Greece City

Is it Rhodes, Kos, Crete, Santorini, Corfu? Or perhaps it is just Athens & Thessaloniki. It all depends on you. Well, all are certainly great choices. In any case, you have made your mind to head to Greece. If it is summer season and you need to relax for a week or two, then of course you cannot do without dedicating several hours a day just for the sea. So, the obvious choice is to head to one of the magnificent Greek islands where, June, July and August are the preferable months but still June is the best where it would be hot yet bearable.

Now while we are still checking, and have concluded that for summer, the prevailing choice would be to go to one of the Greek islands; the question now is: Which one?

For first timers I tend to suggest Rhodes. It is not a big territory, yet adequate enough for visitors that have not been to Greece before. You will find great choice of beautiful spa resorts with green scenery and calm villages. You can chose the all-inclusive ones for best enjoyable experience and less expenses. On the other hand, you must rent a car. That is because you can check most points of interest in the island in a relatively short time. For some, that would be one to two days, but better give more days so you could enjoy all what this island has to offer.

You will have to visit the medieval old town of Rhodes and the whole of the city and that will need a full day or two days and see the historical sites. You will also derive along the rocky and some sandy shores along the island, enjoy the pine forests and the colorful villages.

So, in one visit you will have tasted the Greek history, and enjoyed a relaxing family holiday. This would give you a glimpse to what to expect in coming visits.

In coming post we will see when and where to head in the mainland of Greece.
